Get Fit With Me The SoG

It is confession time.

I have been slacking. I could make a million excuses (which I have), but fact of the matter is that I have been lazy. I have not fallen of the primal wagon per say but I have not been doing everything I could/should.

I have been eating healthy, but not with my same primal intensity and attention to detail fitting to the SoG and I have only been averaging one, yes one 30 minute workout a week. This has been going on for the past 3 months now since I left for work travel.

The result is that I am not out of shape (its is hard to get out of shape even when slacking and living primal), but I am not in the shape or the health that I truly want to be in and that I know I can be in.

It is time for a resolution of sorts. Time to get back to what makes me the SoG… not the Slack-o-G. So here, I say to you… I am going to get Primal. I am going to get dirty, hardcore and happy Primal and I want you to join me.

If you are interested, post your own confessional if you have one and post your dedication to the most important cause their is… your own health and well being. Not doing everything you know you could/should? For the next 4 weeks lets dedicated ourselves to kicking our own buts in gear. You could call this a challenge of sorts but I am not going to bait you with crappy prizes. Our rewards will be our results.

Here is how I am going to help:

1. You may notice 2 new tabs at the top of the page. Back when I actually had more time I started putting together some fitness plans. I almost completed the first of these but never got around to adding the polish and posting. I will make this available over the next couple days… polished or not. I have also had enough interest in an SoG cookbook that I am going to start putting one together… for free. I don’t have an ETA on the cookbook yet but it will be a mash-up of basic Primal cooking advice, my favorite recipes and some new recipes.

2. Email me. If you fall off the wagon, feel free to email me your woes and I will be happy to help you get back on track. Need some help or advice? Or do you just have an inspirational post for yourself or your primal compadres that you would like to see me post? E-mail me.

To kick this off right, Wednesday will be official Primal Enchiladas day. I really promise this time…

Now I better get to work on the Fitness Programs and Cookbooks!

    This post couldn’t have come at a better time. I too have been feeling like I really need to kick myself in the ass and get to working out more than once a week (lately I haven’t even been doing that).

    I also agree it’s time to get serious. I”d say I’ve been living about 70/30 or 75/25 primal, and I want to kick it up to about 90/10 or 95/5 primal.

    My main problems / sticking points:
    1. Eating free (non-primal) food at work.
    2. Drinking too much alcohol. I don’t drink a lot, but when I get beyond tipsy (I rarely get very drunk), not only is this a high carb/alcohol intake, but I make poor food decisions.
    3. Not getting in enough Long Slow Exercise. (I snowboard a lot, but I feel it’s more medium intensity runs followed by no intensity chair-lifts.)
    4. Not having enough primal snacks around, and; therefore, eating non-primal snacks.

    Here’s to some accountability!

    Great timing! Wednesday is the start of a few days off for me after 9 days in a row. Days of no commitments and no stress.

    Time to get back on track! Can’t wait! Thanks for throwing yourself out there, and glad to see you back on the interwebs. Love your “BBQ” sauce!

    Love your blog and was happy to come here today and see the new entries. I’m with you on getting back on track. A week’s vacation in Italy and all of the sudden I can’t stop thinking of bread and wine and pasta. Time to get serious. Will be watching.

    Here’s my “confessional”:

    There are a couple of areas in which I am lacking in order to attain my goals.
    1) I’m not getting nearly enough sleep. 5-6 hours a night…on a good night. I need to discipline myself to relax!
    2) I’ve been pretty strict, I would say 90/10, but I can feel how even those small cheats are restricting my progress.

    I’m excited to see progress, for myself and other faithful SoG fans!

    PS- I’m psyched for enchiladas!

    Awesome timing. I was doing great from New Years to superbowl weekend and then it all fell apart in a maelstrom of snacks and beer followed by lack of exercise, pizza, and a cold. Yesterday I finished off the last of the leftover pizza. Today I ate a primal breakfast, packed a primal lunch, and read your post. I am with you.

    Must be the mid-winter comfort-eating, cold and snow outside that has got us all needing to dial it in a bit! I’m in, althoug a bit ahead of you ;) I committed to a 5K in March about a week or so ago and have started re-learning how to run. (I know the view of primal on steady-state cardio but it works for me and I like it for my emotional well-being!). I’ve tried to remain consistent in my workouts – alarm at 5 AM to ensure I get my exercise in, even if there is only time for half a workout. I’ve been doing okay in the eating department, but can always use some motivation to kick it up a notch!

    I need to:
    get more sleep
    tighten up the non-primal snacking

    Stumbled upon the SOGs blog after having been at Marks Daily Apple and am thoroughly impressed with recipes (loved the primal pizza! And trying the meatloaf tonight)and fitness advice. I’m new to the primal lifestyle so the new SOG goals are perfect timing for me as well. I had been stuck in my CW of eating and working out for far too long and primal came along at just the right time.

    I’m in. Did pretty well through Christmas and then it all fell apart. Gained back a few pounds but it is more the way I feel that is pushing me to get back to it. Haven’t quite got it to the lifestyle point so need to refocus. Thanks for the challenge/invite.

    Free food at work is a major problem. I say with Krispy Kreme donut on my breath. Hey, it was there… :-(

    I have been slacking in 3 areas: exercise (excuses need to go!), snacking (even primal snacks add up!), and play (more fun as a mother/wife is needed!).

    I’ve been slacking in snacking, some cheating (tortilla chips… I need to stop buying them for my husband), and not eating enough fruits & veggies. I want to get pregnant again soon, and want my body in the best condition to grow a baby!

    As we speak I’m about to bake a batch of caveman cookies. Looking forward to some more recipes!

    Glad to hear you’re back. As far as my own confession goes, I admit while listening to the radio today I was tempted to have some pancakes. The show was talking about IHOP’s free pancake day and the hosts eventually moved into a debate of pancakes versus waffles. I should have changed the station but I kept listening them talk about how delicious each one was. Luckily, I came to my senses and I now have some chicken ready to cook.

    This is exactly what I need! My main areas of confession:
    ** Not getting enough sleep. Like Ben (in comments above) I need to allow myself a chance to relax. I always feel like I am on the go and there is more to get done. I need to learn to relax!
    **Cut back on the alcohol consumption. Too many happy hours and events with friends. Time to get back to club soda with lime.
    **Overall, my eating is on track, but I am finding myself allowing small bits of the bad stuff more often, (really, a little taste won’t hurt! We’ve all said that one before!)

    I too am a SlackerGrrl for about 3 weeks. I think the snow days and overcast skies are making me a little lazy. And I need to uncomplicate the exercise part and do it at home or make it so easy to do that I just do it. On vacation at a conference this week and too many snacks and chips and cake and pomegranate mojito thingies that don’t really taste all that good when you get right down to it. But I did have a big piece of salmon with veggies yesterday, and I’ve been hitting eggs over easy and bacon for breakfast. Also been getting the steak ranchero whenever I can because it is a good hit of protein and they actually cook it fresh when you order it. God I hat DISNEY!!!

    I need a workout bad and some ME TIME. Sometimes at these things I just run a

    oops sorry about hitting the submit button without know how I even hit it.

    I run around too much and I need to slow down. It’s colder than I thought in FL so I haven’t done the workouts I wanted to do, but I may need to primal up in the weight room in my VFF’s that are sitting in the room all alone and unloved.

    I fill like I’m in a tar pit sinking slowly. Work’s dragging me down. Not enough time to catch up on my sleep or projects at home. In my office they all the bad snacks they lay out in the break room are right next to the water dispenser that I have to walk by to get water.
    “Donuts and coffee and bear claws oh my”
    Short lunch breaks, nap or walk too much input OMG. These are all just some of my typical excuses I use from time to time, I have just started the PB
    I am reading the PB book at this time. I have been staying with a very low carb diet due to being on the verge of type 2 diabetes and my blood sugar has been very good as long as I stay away from carbs. So at this point I have lightened up on my working out every day like mad man. We’ll see.

    I am so glad to see this. I got my book about two months. had started crossfit was going feeling good. then my hours got cut back. couldnt go to crossfit anymore. the hardest part for me is trying to work out at home. after my sister left from visiting on her spring break i am able to get back to primal eating. i resisted the first part of the week but by the end she made addictive cookies.
    i have been searching crossfit mainsite for wods i can do at home.
