Happy Labor Day to Everyone!
Sorry that I have not posted in a while. I have been extremely busy. My car broke down and I had to fix it and we have added a new addition to our family.
His name is Egon.
He is a GREAT dog. Absolutely amazing in fact. We saved him from the middle of a busy street about a week back and when no one claimed him (people abandon dogs in the desert out where I live all the time), we decided to legally adopt him. Unfortunately though he got an infection from his surgery (the animal shelter neuters all adopted dogs) and he has been very sick and has required a lot of extra care and attention.
Anyways… here is a simple labor day recipe for everyone. This salad dressing is my grandmothers recipe and is by far my favorite dressing. It also happens to be completely primal. Not only is it my favorite primal salad dressing though, it is my favorite dressing period!
Primal Balsamic Vinaigrette
Ingredients:
-3/4 cup olive oil
- 3 tblspns balsamic vinaigrette
- 2 teaspns dijon mustard
- 1 small garlic glove finely chopped or minced
- 1 tbslpn shallots finely chopped or minced
- 1 tblspn red onion finely chopped or minced
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl
2. mix thoroughly
3. Store in sealed container (I got mine form the $1 store) in the refrigerator
4. Shake well before use and Enjoy!
Like many of the best things in life.. it really is that simple!
Enjoy your labor day! I have an extra special chicken recipe coming to you later in the week!

Sweet! I’ve been thinkin’ I need a new salad juice to use other than eating it without dressing or with lemon.

Thanks for the recipe, I’m going to be making more salads now that the weather here in NZ is warming up. And Egon looks very happy! Good for you adopting him.

Currently googling “shallots”. Will give it a go even though I’m not much on sauces and dressings. Feeling very bland these days.
Hope you teach Egon to never cross the streams.

Roy,
Good to hear from you! Shallots are small white onions. They are available most everywhere.

What a lucky dog. An outdoor enthusiast who follows a primal lifestyle.
Can we assume your new buddy will be following a similar diet to yours?

Dude, you are a stand up guy. I respect and honor anybody that adopts an animal. Good karma to you and I’ll bet his life is gonna be great doing the primal thing with you.

Update on Egon. He has Pnuemonia and needs to be doggie hospitalized overnight. Poor guy.

SoG, congrats on the new puppy Egon (aka DoG..dog of Grok). It is a wonderful thing that you and MrsSoG did in taking him in.
Salad Dressing? Now you’re Martha Stewart? If you start showing us how to properly fold napkins, I’m outa here…forever…Capiche? I dig the dressing! Very similar to what I eat on a nightly basis.

Similar to mine but I use Apple Cider Vinegar instead of Balsamic.

@Mikez haha Dog of Grok – Classic – he needs his own blog.
This dressing looks much better than my usual dollup of Balsamic and drizzle of olive oil. Gonna have to shell out for those shallots

SoG,
Here’s a good place to get started researching a natural (paleo) diet and care for pets:
