Apologies for the lack of posts. I have been working on something big for the site that I am hoping is going to be big for everyone. I think it is pretty cool and hopefully you all will too. Stay tuned!
In the meantime….
Well, no doubt about it… it is getting HOT outside. Around here, it is getting hot fast. I made 2 delicious and simple summer treats that I made over the past week. Here is the first of the 2.
Simple Strawberry Smoothie
I don’t usually condone drinking anything other than water, tea or coffee but for this I will make an exception. It was really hot the other day and we were driving by a Sonic and I thought to myself “Wow a cool strawberry or watermelon drink would really hit the spot”. Of course a sugar packed Sonic beverage was out of the question so I whipped this up when I got home. It REALLY hit the spot.
Ingredients:
- 4 frozen strawberries (or fresh)
- Handful of ice
- Approx 3 cups of water
Directions:
1. Combine ingredients in a blender.
2. Frappe.
3. Serve and enjoy.
Yes, it really is that easy. As I said this really hit the spot plus it technically contained the whole strawberries so I did not really lose any nutrition. This would be good to try with a little watermelon too!

We do something similar, except we use a bit more berries (frozen, so we don`t need the ice) and we use milk instead of water. Sometimes we throw in some liquid stevia and/or some pure (no sugar added) vanilla extract for extra flavour.
It’s actually my favourite after-workout drink – carbs from the fruit, some protein from the milk (and you can always throw in some whey powder to kick up the protein a notch).

I keep a bag of mixed frozen berries in the fridge for just sort of occasion. I also like to throw them in a salad just before leaving for work, by the time I eat my salad they have thawed and add a touch of sweetness to the meal.

I almost always have a stock of frozen strawberries and blueberries on hand. Try adding a banana or kiwi to this one.

SOG,
Hope all is well. Excited to learn more about the new “thing”
for your site.
This morning I had some blueberries, blackberries, almond butter and 2 tbsps of coconut oil all mixed together. Tasty little treat.

Brother….
You should try it with cocomut milk instead of water….adds a little something, something. Also…..egg protein for some sustenance. yum! Made a coffee smooooooothie the other day too—shot of expresso, ice, organic half-half or coconut milk—ahhhhh, a refreshing cool coffee drink-le (like the McD’s commercial).
love,
sister

If you can get fresh strawberries (in season) they really make the smoothie awesome. Add in some stevia if its on the sour side.
