Camping was awesome.
We had terrible weather but that almost made it more enjoyable. There were also a couple small windows of good weather where we got to do mountain biking, frisbee, football, hiking… you name it. Good Location, good campfire, good friends, good time. Unfortunately I did not take any pictures.
Anyways, a story…
My good friends brought their 7 year old son along. He is AWESOME. He is practically like a nephew to me. Anyways, I was cooking up some eggs and bacon for breakfast and he was hovering and asking questions about weather or not it was done. Then dinner came around and I was cooking up some grassfed burger patties and he was back to hovering and asking questions. He then asked my wife if he could have some of our food. My wife responded “Sorry _____, we did not bring enough. Your parents brought a bunch of food for you though. Why don’t you go ask your mom for some?”
And then his response was priceless.
“But those are snacks. I want food.”
Lol, I guess triscuits and easy cheese wasn’t doing it for him anymore.
New post tomorrow I hope that eveyone is going to want to check out!

Hey, that’s only 45 mins. north of here! I’m in Albuquerque. Great blog by the way. Found it through Mark’s Daily Apple. Can’t get more primal than roughing it in the woods.

I guess some kids have some common sense after all (maybe he’s one of those who are in tune with their body).
It’s good to read that kids are getting fed up with SAD/junk food and start requesting REAL food…Even in school cafeterias!
I hope this will also be a wake up call for the parents…

Awesomeness, SOG. If he’s like a nephew to you, I take it that he’s already hip to the primal lifestyle, to some degree? I’ve noticed that I’ve become something of an evangelist myself, telling people about this ABSOLUTELY COOL NEW WAY TO BE that I’ve discovered. (Note, when I say “discovered” I don’t mean that I came up with this stuff, other people did that, I just ran across it, and profited from their original research.)
I’m only “mostly primal” myself, maybe even only “partially primal” . . . but this year I’ve lost about thirty pounds already, and it’s been EASY.
Kudos to you. (I still think you need a good gladius, tho!)

That picture is awesome! What a beautiful place. I myself go to Yosemite every year so I know the feeling you get when you go back to somewhere that beautiful after you’ve been gone for a while.
All the Best,

Great story and pics.. I too grew up going camping in the Jemez. We just got back from vacation in Durango. Working out at 7200 is an absolute ‘treat’

Woo! I grew up here. Lived in the Jemez and then moved to Los Alamos (always went to school in LA). Now I’m in Phoenix and this picture very much makes me miss NM.
